25 years
Specialising in Respiratory Physiotherapy
With 30 years of NHS experience — including 25 years specialising in Respiratory Physiotherapy — I have dedicated my career to helping people breathe more easily and live more comfortably. I’ve worked across hospitals in the South East and most recently held the role of Respiratory Clinical Lead at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
My work has spanned critical care, in-patient respiratory and surgical wards and outpatient services. I’ve led teams caring for ventilated and high‑dependency patients, supported multidisciplinary airway management, and developed specialist expertise in tracheostomy care and decannulation. I have extensive experience in airway clearance for bronchiectasis, COPD, cystic fibrosis and chronic mucus retention, and I was the lead clinician for bronchiectasis outpatient clinics. I also specialise in breathing pattern disorder re-training and have delivered and evaluated Pulmonary Rehabilitation programmes for people with chronic respiratory conditions.
During the Covid‑19 pandemic, I worked on the frontline in intensive care and later supported individuals living with long Covid.
I have achieved lung ultrasound accreditation, enabling me to use point of care ultrasound at the bedside to support diagnosis, guide physiotherapy treatment decisions and monitor patient progress.
Teaching has also been a significant and fulfilling part of my career. With a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and a Simulation qualification, I have taught widely across respiratory physiotherapy teams, medical teams and physiotherapy training programmes, helping shape and inspire the next generation of clinicians.
I have now stepped away from the NHS to offer private Respiratory Physiotherapy with the time, flexibility and personalised attention my patients deserve. My aim is to equip you with the skills, confidence and understanding you need to breathe better and improve your quality of life.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Your physiotherapist will take a detailed history to fully understand your symptoms and medical background. You will be examined, including an assessment of your breathing and chest movement, and your physiotherapist may need to place their hands on your chest or abdomen to feel how your breathing mechanics are working. You may be asked to lie down, sit or stand during the assessment, and some light exercise may be required. You will receive advice and may be taught exercises to continue at home. A follow‑up appointment is usually recommended.
Your physiotherapist will review how you have been since your last session and check whether your exercises or advice are helping. Your treatment plan will be progressed as appropriate, and you may discuss longer‑term management strategies.
This varies depending on your condition, your goals and how consistently you follow your treatment plan. This will be discussed with you during your appointments.
Appointment frequency depends on your progress and will be agreed with your physiotherapist. Most people benefit from a follow‑up session 1–2 weeks after their initial assessment to review early progress.
Please bring any medical reports, letters or test results related to your condition. If you use any devices to help manage your breathing, please bring them with you. Wear light clothing such as a T‑shirt or vest so your physiotherapist can clearly observe your breathing and chest movement.
You can contact us via the website contact page, by email, or by calling the mobile. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a voicemail and we will return your call at the earliest opportunity.
